Kaisheimer Altar: Darbringung im Tempel

Hans Holbein the Elder painted the Presentation in the Temple for the Kaisheim Altar in 1502. The scene shows the infant Christ being presented to the aged priest Simeon, who recognized the child as the Messiah. Holbein's temple setting demonstrates his command of architectural rendering and spatial perspective.
