Historical Context
Saint-Briac, La Garde Guérin, Saint-Lunaire (1890) shows Signac continuing to paint along the northern Brittany coast that had drawn him in the mid-1880s. Saint-Briac-sur-Mer and the neighbouring headlands were familiar territory, and returning to them in 1890 allowed him to apply his now fully matured divisionist technique — large, confident dot-work rather than the more tentative early studies. Technical Analysis
The coastal headland composition is rendered in assured divisionist dots, the palette now more confidently divided between warm land tones and cool sea-sky zones. The technique is more systematic and controlled than in the earlier Saint-Briac studies, reflecting five years of technical consolidation.
