These organ case paintings from around 1535 were created by Moretto for the Church of San Giovanni Evangelista in Brescia. Organ cases were important surfaces for painted decoration in Italian churches, typically displaying scenes visible when the organ was closed and others revealed when open. Organ case panels were typically designed to fold, revealing different images when opened or closed, creating a devotional program that changed with the liturgical seasons.
