The Annunciation

Frans Francken II was the most prolific and successful member of the Francken dynasty of Antwerp painters, producing an enormous body of cabinet paintings on copper and panel. This Annunciation on copper reflects the Counter-Reformation demand for refined devotional images among the Catholic elite of the Spanish Netherlands.
